I have debated posting this for the past few weeks, as I wasn’t sure if I wanted to mix blog life and real life. Then I realized that I have spent an incredible amount of time on this blog and since it is a reflection of what I believe to be my ability, motivation, talent, analytical skill, strengths as well as weaknesses, I decided that it would be a great place for me to begin my search for a new job.

In the “traditional” job search effort, the jobseeker must target a job that he wants or thinks he would be good at, among other reasons, and while I am still going down that road and have some jobs/areas in mind that I wish to work in, the truth is I have never worked there and know very little about whether or not I will be happy or even successful, even if I believe I will. Nor do the people who may be looking to hire me through this channel know much about me beyond a resume and an interview.

In a job market as “illiquid” as this one where supply and demand are completely out of whack, I figured I would go down a path that may create some extra liquidity for myself as well as more transparency for any potential employers in hopes to create a more efficient market for myself. Therefore, in the Zero Beta spirit of being uncorrelated, I am going to use this channel in a very untraditional way.

It is my belief that my readers have a better idea of where I could successful as well as challenged than anyone on Monster, headhunter, friend or family, quite possibly even myself. So if you, your company, someone you know (or even not know) is looking for a young, intelligent, talented, motivated, hard-working, analytical, well-rounded person, please email me at zerobetablog@gmail.com and I would be happy to send you my resume and any other credentials that you wish. It could be for any job that after reading this blog you think I would be a good fit for, not just in the financial field, and although I live in New York and prefer to stay in New York, I am always open to opportunities elsewhere. Even in you don’t have a job but have suggestions for areas where you think I would be good, I am always open to learning about new things and at 25, the biggest damage I could do is not explore all my options.

I sincerely I am not coming off as some pretentious blogger trying to auction himself off to the many that are eagerly waiting for him to bless their organization with his talent, because quite frankly I would be surprised to get few, if any, replies. I am simply exploring an avenue that I think could be a way in which myself and others could find a job that best suits them and for employers to find an employee who best suits their job. Perhaps down the line, resumes could be replaced or complemented with a blog-like journal which conveys things that a resume just doesn’t show and can sometimes hide: depth of thought, skills, extent of knowledge, versatility, ingenuity, diligence, curiosity, interest, and integrity. I think it could make for a much more efficient labor market, with less turnover and higher productivity.
